Quick answer
Towel bars fail because they were hung on drywall with the plastic anchors from the box. We mount bars, rings, robe hooks and toilet paper holders into blocking or studs, or use toggle anchors rated for the pull, so they stay tight.
Photos to text us for a quote
- The bathroom wall where each piece will go
- Your new hardware set, unopened is fine
- Old holes or a bar hanging loose
- Tile or drywall at the mounting spot
- The vanity and toilet for spacing

What’s included
- Towel bars, rings and robe hooks
- Toilet paper holders and spare-roll stands
- Surface-mount medicine cabinets and mirror cabinets
- Shower shelves and caddies on tile
- Old hardware removed and holes patched
- Full accessory sets lined up level across the room
What we don’t do
- Wiring hidden inside the wall for TVs or lights; we use paintable cord channels.
- New framing or load-bearing changes.
- Custom cabinetry or new built-ins.
In Alhambra homes
Many Alhambra bathrooms from the 1920s to the 1950s have plaster walls and tile set on a mortar bed; about 77 percent of the city’s homes were built before 1980, according to a city housing report. Those walls need masonry bits and the right fasteners, not the plastic plugs packed with most towel bars.

Studs first
Wherever a stud lines up with where you want the bar, we use it. Where it doesn’t, we use metal toggles rated for the load, not plastic plugs.
Drilling tile
Tile is drilled slowly with a diamond or carbide bit, and each screw is sealed so water stays out of the wall.

Plaster walls
Plaster chips if drilled fast. We tape the spot, drill carefully and reach the lath or framing behind.
Medicine cabinets
Surface-mount cabinets hang on the wall over the vanity. Cutting a new recess in a wall with pipes or wires is outside our scope.
Not a grab bar
Towel bars aren’t made to hold a person. If someone needs support getting in and out of the tub, ask about grab bars.
In older Alhambra houses this job often turns up next to mirror and medicine cabinet installation, grab bar installation, shelf, mirror and picture hanging and caulk and grout repair, so mention those when you text and we can price them together.

Towel bar and bathroom accessory installation questions from Alhambra homeowners
How high should a toilet paper holder go?
About 26 inches off the floor and a little in front of the toilet is typical.
Why did my towel bar pull out of the wall?
It was likely held by plastic anchors in drywall or plaster. Re-mounting into a stud or metal toggle holds far better.

Can you mount accessories on tile without cracking it?
Yes. We drill slowly with the right bit and seal each hole.
How much does it cost to install a towel bar?
It depends on the wall and how many pieces. Text a photo for a free estimate before anything is booked.
Why do towel bar brackets keep coming loose?
The anchors pull out of the drywall when someone leans on the bar. We switch to toggle or snap anchors, or hit a stud, and patch the old holes.
Can you install a towel bar with a shelf?
Yes. Shelf-style bars carry more weight, so we find studs or use heavy anchors and level the shelf so items don’t slide off.
