In Alhambra homes
About 77 percent of Alhambra’s homes were built before 1980, according to a city housing report, and many of their kitchens had a dishwasher fitted in later. That means openings, shutoff valves and outlets vary. Alhambra’s hard water, listed at 240 ppm in the city’s 2025 water quality report, also leaves scale on old supply valves, which often weep once they are turned for the first time in years.

Send a photo of the old dishwasher, the cabinet under the sink, and the new model number. Our number for photos is (626) 684-3505, and the price comes back before any work is booked.
Before install day
We check the opening against the new model’s specs, the hot water valve under the sink, the drain connection and the outlet. Send the model number early, and we confirm it fits before you buy.
The swap
Water and power are shut off, the old unit is disconnected and slid out on a floor protector. The new unit gets its supply elbow and power connection, slides in, is leveled and fastened, and the toe kick goes back on only after a full test cycle shows no leaks.
Getting the most from it
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Saver guide notes that ENERGY STAR certified dishwashers boost water temperature to 140°F, and suggests scraping and loading dishes rather than rinsing them. In hard water, using rinse aid and cleaning the filter as the maker suggests helps keep spots off glasses.
Old valves and drains
If the shutoff under the sink is seized or drips, we replace it with a quarter-turn valve during the visit. If the disposal is new, we make sure its dishwasher knockout is removed so the drain works.
Panel-ready and compact models
Panel-ready dishwashers take a cabinet front that matches your kitchen; we mount it using the maker’s template when the panel is supplied. Compact 18-inch models go into narrower openings in the same way, as long as the existing hookups reach.
Haul-away
The old dishwasher leaves with us when we finish, along with the packing from the new one, so the kitchen is ready to use the same day.
What goes to an electrician
We connect to the existing outlet or hookup. A new dedicated circuit or a new outlet goes to an electrician, and a new water line or drain where none exists goes to a plumber.
